Richard chamberlain now1/16/2024 Kara previously teamed with Elizabeth Smart, whose own harrowing survival tale was dramatized in 2017's I Am Elizabeth Smart, to produce a documentary about her ordeal, and the pair joined forces once again to ensure that Kara's story was told by Lifetime as she saw fit.Īsked if watching her friend's story play out onscreen triggered her own memories, Elizabeth told E!, "I do know what it felt like to be there personally, but then to have it be about someone that I care very much about, it is quite emotional for me in that sense. So for me, going through the process, my trauma was in a box over here, and I was existing, working on the movie, over here, and there wasn't a lot of overlap." Meaning, she continued, "I don't feel I have those typical trauma responses of having PTSD or feeling triggered or having flashbacks. Enter teenage Kara ( Katie Douglas), who sees Debra and utters one word: "Mom?" Particularly, she recalled, while watching the moment where her mom Debra (played by Cara Buono) bursts into the police station asking where her daughter is. But watching her story unfold in its entirety-from being abducted from her friend's front yard by Richard Evonitz to being reunited with her family after she managed to escape 18 hours later-stirred up some feelings she wasn't expecting. 11 premiere of Lifetime's The Girl Who Escaped: The Kara Robinson Story. "The filming was filling in gaps in my first-person memory."Īs an author and advocate for trauma survivors, she's spoken extensively about her experience. "The way that my memory of the trauma functions, it's like snapshots in a flipbook-and there are some pages missing," the now 36-year-old mother of two exclusively told E! News' Francesca Amiker ahead of the Feb. That included an aversion to monogamy and boasting in his book "Wilt: Larger Than Life" that he had slept with 20,000 women, an estimate that had people doing the math on that claim and, given the proximity of its release to Magic Johnson's AIDS diagnosis, he quickly came to regret.Īs sports journalist Jemele Hill notes, the discussion about Chamberlain's womanizing "put an overwhelming shadow in this tremendous basketball legacy," and made him a target for mockery at the time.Kara Robinson Chamberlain doesn't remember every second of being held captive by a suspected serial killer almost 21 years ago. That label came despite his enormous talent and treasure trove of seemingly unimaginable records, which included scoring 100 points in a game and averaging 50 points over the course of a season – seized on by critics as a sign of his emphasis on personal accomplishments as opposed to team victories.Ĭhamberlain invested wisely during his NBA career, amassing wealth while living a life as big as he was. The interviewees also include friends and family, including his sister Barbara Lewis, who recall how Chamberlain grew up being gawked at because of his height before attending college in Kansas, where a championship-game loss began the hard-to-shake meme that he was a "loser" in crunch time. Perhaps foremost, the project serves as an excellent companion to the recent Netflix documentary "Bill Russell: Legend," providing additional insight into the battle of titans that defined basketball during their era, with Russell cast as the championship-winning good guy and Chamberlain as the selfish foil, who, given his 7-foot-plus frame, was fond of telling people, "No one roots for Goliath." In its most buzzworthy device, the docuseries using an AI program to assemble Chamberlain's narration drawing from interviews and his autobiography, which possesses a somewhat stiff quality but generally gets the job done. But the three-part Showtime documentary proves most notable for portraying the sensitive soul underneath the NBA great's brash exterior, as well as his trailblazing on behalf of athletes having a say in their careers and future. (CNN) - To anyone whose first thought hearing Wilt Chamberlain's name is the number of women he claimed to have slept with, rest assured, "Goliath" has you covered. Maxel rage 251/15/2024 Looks aren’t worth much unless they are backed up by performance. This sweet little reel is a delight to look at, to hold and to fish with. If you like a line out clicker option, that’s there too, I didn’t use it but it’s there anyway. There is also a fine drag setting control for adjustment. The drag control is a lever drag system with free spool, a strike positin and a transition to full drag. The Rage 25H Compact is comprised of a rigid one piece frame machined from a bar of aircraft grade aluminium, a cold forged aluminium spool, multiple carbon washers either side of the spool, precision machined stainless gearing and 9 + 2 stainless bearings combined with solid cover plates, machined handle and stainless fittings. And it proved to pack a huge punch for such a small reel. It is a lightweight at just 401 grams but it is a confidence building handful… but no more than a handful. It was compact, solid and tight and by that I meant no slack or play in it anywhere. The little Rage 25H reel I used was black with gold metallic detailing. The finish on all the Maxel reels was meticulous, finely detailed and designed to shrug off water with their beautiful anodised surfaces. Maxel are providers of precision engineered components for other leading brand manufacturers and of accessories compatible with other leading brand reels. The Rage 25H (H for high speed) is an extremely well finished piece of quality engineering. Rob had punished the reel and had even pulled it apart to see what made it tick. I had some preconceptions I have to admit, Rob Fort’s earlier review of the Maxel Hybrid 20C was nothing short of glowing and with good reason. I had plans to use them rigorously jigging and livebaiting for kingfish, with the assistance of some serious aficionados while the lovely little Jig Star 603 – 2 rod fitted with a Maxel Rage 25H was destined to spend a day or two with me on the western coast of the Coromandel in search of a few nice spring snapper while dropping light jigs. The rods and reels were Jig Star rods set up with a range of Maxel jigging reels. We both arrived in Tauranga the same day, the armful of rods and reels on the courier while I arrived on the midday flight. Disney pinochle cards1/15/2024 Biddingįollowing the deal, starting with the player left of the dealer, players bid to become the player who declares trump (the “declarer”). The high bidder (“declarer”) must discard an equal number of cards before trick taking starts so all players have the same number. The kitty is added to the high bidder’s hand before he or she declares trump. If playing with this option, 11 cards are dealt to each player and 4 cards are placed in the kitty (15 cards dealt and a 3-card kitty in the 3-player game). Trickster Pinochle offers an option to play with a kitty (single deck only). In the 4-player double deck game, 20 cards are dealt to each player. When playing without a kitty, all 48 cards are dealt: 12 cards to each of 4 players (or 16 cards to each of 3 players in the 3-player game). Note that the 10 is elevated to a position just below the Ace.ĭouble deck Pinochle uses an 80-card deck consisting of 4 cards per rank of rank 10 through Ace. The order of ranks from top to bottom are A, 10, K, Q, J, and 9. Pinochle is played with a 48-card deck consisting of 2 cards per rank of ranks 9 through Ace. (More on meld values and card point values below.) The Deck In modern scoring, bids increment by 1 and all the classic meld values are divided by 10. Trickster Pinochle offers two scoring styles we call “Classic” and “Modern.” In classic scoring, bids are multiples of 10 and meld such as Aces Around are worth 100 points (often called “100 Aces”). The game has three phases: bidding, melding, and trick taking. It is a trick taking and melding game where players score points by capturing cards worth points (“counters”) and by forming combinations of cards into meld. The correction - they should only lead with their aces in trump if they only have a very few trump.Trickster Pinochle is an implementation of single-deck partnership auction pinochle (a game option offers single round bidding). We don’t want to help the other team, this gives them an advantage because they now know where the power for the hand is. The correction- don’t feed the person trumping, play a different suit to try and reach your partner.Ģ- When the opponent calls a trump, when my partner gets in to play, if they have aces in the trump, they play all of their aces. It doesn’t matter which team is trumping, that is what happens. My issues: 1 - when the opponent is trumping a suit, the computer continues to play back the suit that is being trumped, allowing the opposite team to score more points, which could potentially cause the bidding team to be set or miss their bid. I would like to know if anyone else has noticed these issues: I have requested several changes and no action has been taken. It is the best pinochle game that I have found in the App Store. I have been playing this game for almost a year now. For instance bid is 65 your partner says 75 that means he has meld to back you up so take the bid if you got a good hand but not a lot of meld. If your partner bids 10 above what the bid is that’s telling you he has a lot of meld. Round Robin (KQJ) in every suit 32 points (With a Run 43 points) Round House (KQ) in every suit 24 points (With a Run 35 points) Jacks Around (♠️♦️♣️♥️) Jacks in every suit 4 points 2x(Forty Jacks) 40 points Queens Around (♠️♦️♣️♥️) Queens in every suit 6 points 2x(Sixty Queens) 60 points Kings Around (♠️♦️♣️♥️) King in every suit 8 points 2x(Eighty Kings) 80 points Run (A,10,K,Q,J) in Trump suit 15 points (+4 points for every extra marriage)Īces Around (♠️♦️♣️♥️) Ace in every suit 10 points 2x(Thousand aces) 100 points Marriage (KQ) in Any suit 2 points (4 points if Trump suit) So here’s a cheat sheet for all you beginners Only thing is people could be very toxic on here because they can speak to you via microphone on their phone. This app has a very active table that plays by prison rules unlike other apps that play with 9’s. I learned Pinochle in Prison, we don’t play with 9’s.

New map of middle east1/15/2024 The British Navy should have the facility to concentrate in force if occasion arise, about Aden, India, and the Persian Gulf. Naval force has the quality of mobility which carries with it the privilege of temporary absences but it needs to find on every scene of operation established bases of refit, of supply, and in case of disaster, of security. The Middle East, if I may adopt a term which I have not seen, will some day need its Malta, as well as its Gibraltar it does not follow that either will be in the Persian Gulf. Mahan first used the term in his article "The Persian Gulf and International Relations", published in September 1902 in the National Review, a British journal. He labeled the area surrounding the Persian Gulf as the Middle East, and said that after Egypt's Suez Canal, it was the most important passage for Britain to control in order to keep the Russians from advancing towards British India. Mahan realized not only the strategic importance of the region, but also of its center, the Persian Gulf. During this time the British and Russian Empires were vying for influence in Central Asia, a rivalry which would become known as the Great Game. However, it became more widely known when American naval strategist Alfred Thayer Mahan used the term in 1902 to "designate the area between Arabia and India". The term "Middle East" may have originated in the 1850s in the British India Office. Other concepts of the region exist including the broader the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), which includes states of the Maghreb and the Sudan, or the " Greater Middle East" which additionally also includes parts of East Africa, Mauritania, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and sometimes the South Caucasus and Central Asia. Because of the arid climate and heavy reliance on the fossil fuel industry, the Middle East is both a heavy contributor to climate change and a region expected to be severely negatively impacted by it. Most of the countries that border the Persian Gulf have vast reserves of petroleum, with monarchs of the Arabian Peninsula in particular benefiting economically from petroleum exports. Conversely, the Levantine coast and most of Turkey have relatively temperate climates typical of the Mediterranean, with dry summers and cool, wet winters. These regions are collectively known as the Fertile Crescent, and comprise the core of what historians had long referred to as the cradle of civilization (a label now applied to multiple regions of the world). Several major rivers provide irrigation to support agriculture in limited areas here, such as the Nile Delta in Egypt, the Tigris and Euphrates watersheds of Mesopotamia, and the basin of the Jordan River that spans most of the Levant. The Middle East generally has a hot, arid climate, especially in the Arabian and Egyptian regions. Arabs constitute the main ethnic group in the region, followed by Turks, Persians, Kurds, Azeris, Copts, Jews, Assyrians, Iraqi Turkmen, Yazidis, and Greek Cypriots. Several major religions have their origins in the Middle East, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The history of the Middle East dates back to ancient times, with the geopolitical importance of the region being recognized for millennia. The most populous countries in the region are Egypt, Turkey, and Iran, while Saudi Arabia is the largest Middle Eastern country by area. Most Middle Eastern countries (13 out of 18) are part of the Arab world. The region includes the vast majority of the territories included in the closely associated definition of West Asia, but without the South Caucasus, and additionally includes all of Egypt (not just the Sinai) and all of Turkey (not just the part barring East Thrace). The term "Middle East" has led to some confusion over its changing definitions, and being seen as too Eurocentric. The term came into widespread usage as a replacement of the term Near East (as opposed to the Far East) beginning in the early 20th century. The Middle East (term originally coined in English ) is a geopolitical region encompassing the Arabian Peninsula, the Levant, Turkey, Egypt, Iran, and Iraq.
